2007 Georgia Fires
The 2007 Georgia Fire was, in actuality, a combination of two fires, which were burning at the same time. Located 10 miles southwest of Waycross, Georgia, the fires burned approximately 87 square miles of land, and drove over 1,000 people from their homes, while 18 homes in total were destroyed. The larger of the two fires, the Sweat Farm Road fire, was started by a downed power line near the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. This image was acquired by the Landsat 5 TM (Thematic Mapper) in April of 2007.
